Boutique charity shop proves a hit with Marlborough shoppers
A new boutique charity shop has already proved to be a popular spot for local shoppers looking for a high-end bargain, with over 500 people coming through its doors in just the first few days.
The Survivor shop in Hughenden Yard, is a carefully curated collection of top-quality designer goods and excellent branded womenswear and accessories, with many items still brand new.
The shop is the second store for local domestic abuse charity Society Without Abuse (SWA), which works across the region to bring an end to domestic abuse through education, early intervention and prevention.
“Every shopper who comes through the door is making a difference to ending domestic abuse, whether they buy something or not. As well as being able to fund our services, it’s so important to raise awareness of the prevalence of domestic abuse in our society and that it affects everyone regardless of gender, age and background,” explained Kate Rowland, CEO of SWA.
“The new shop in Marlborough has an impressive collection on sale, including designer brand names. The clothes have been carefully curated for the shop, and we plan to soon also offer eveningwear and bridal pieces too. As our stock is fast-moving we’d encourage shoppers to regularly pop in and see what’s on offer!”
It was officially opened by The Mayor of Marlborough, Councillor Emily Trow. On cutting the ribbon, she said; “I am delighted to open the shop, this is a truly, truly worthwhile cause. The shop is also looking for volunteers, so any Marlborough residents who would like to give them a hand would be very welcome; volunteering is very rewarding.”
The Marlborough Survivor shop will be open six days a week, from 10am until 4pm.
