Children and Young People:  Support and Programmes

We have a dedicated team, delivering trauma-informed interventions to assist the recovery of children from domestic abuse and raise awareness amongst the wider community.

We recognise that Domestic Abuse affects people of all ages. You may be experiencing it directly or witnessing it within your family home. You may be worried about your relationship or that of someone you care about.  Any form of abuse is unacceptable and on the following pages you will find information to help, whatever the situation.

We have a dedicated team , delivering trauma informed interventions to assist children and young people on their journey to recover from domestic abuse. We work with families and a wide range of organisations. The team raise awareness and provide education to the wider community.

HOPE:  The Education Programme:

Educational settings are uniquely placed to identify and support families experiencing domestic abuse and also to educate children and young people about healthy relationships.

The HOPE Programme, leading to a HOPE Award, enables educational establishments to learn and demonstrate their commitment to providing a safe space, where those affected by domestic abuse can reach out in confidence for support.

The programme encompasses training for staff, healthy relationship/friendship sessions for children and young people and a HOPE educational support worker who will work with the staff to achieve these outcomes.

HOPE: The Outreach Programmes:

Our experienced and knowledgeable HOPE outreach workers facilitate interventions to support children and young people in their recovery from Domestic Abuse.

Our engagement with those impacted by abuse include a range of group programmes which are carefully designed to suit children of different ages and needs. They include:

  • Recovery Toolkit (for 8s and over, groups of similar ages)
  • Helping Hands (5–8-year-olds, group programme)
  • Healing Together (6–16-year-olds, group or individual sessions)
